Intro

Hi! I'm BUSSAN, content director / designer at MyDearest. Starting today, I will also be a VR Communicator! In this post, I'll briefly explain our plans for VR Communicator and what it's all about.

We felt the need to utilize Social VR... since we're a VR game studio!

You might be thinking, "What exactly is a VR Communicator?" Before I explain that, let me talk about why we started this project.
We started out from this section's heading, "We felt the need to utilize Social VR... since we're a VR game studio!". In VRChat and other Social VR, there are a lot of users that wear VR headsets on a daily basis. We wanted to know more about them, and it would be even nicer if they can get to know us, MyDearest. We started VR Communicator to be the communication point for that.
As an aside, VRChat was introduced in the opening section of Meta Connect 2022, one of the biggest events in the VR industry. Social VR is now a major trend in the VR industry.

What is "VR Communicator"?

Now let me explain what VR Communicator plans to do. "Communicator" generally refers to professions involving translation and interpretation. The goal of translations is to bridge the gap between people who speak different languages.

VR Communicator aims to bridge the gap between the people in Social VR and people outside it.

There are unique cultures and norms in Social VR, and things that happen inside are hard to see from the outside. This is especially true for people who do not usually play Social VR, and we believe that translation is required to fill in that gap. We also felt that we knew too little about the people who live in Social VR even though a lot of them are our audience, the VR game players. VR Communicator aims to connect the people in Social VR and MyDearest as a VR game studio, and help both sides to better understand each other. There are native-level English speakers in VR Communicator, so we also plan to be a "Communicator" literally too.

What we want to accomplish as VR Communicator

Communication is about mutual understanding, so we plan to focus on both "understanding people in Social VR", and "getting people in Social VR to know us". For the former, we will be attending events in Social VR, interviewing users, and making content using words, images, videos to communicate what's happening in VR to the outside world. For the latter, we plan on hosting events to talk about our studio and games.

That being said, we want our activities to feel casual, "non-corporate". We made the slogan "Let's meet up in VR!" to better communicate that. We'll be carrying out our plans in a laid-back manner, so don't hesitate to chat with us!
